Greektown: Detroit’s Downtown
Greektown is
beloved throughout Michigan as one of Detroit’s
most happening neighborhoods. Many, in fact, consider Greektown
to be “Detroit’s Downtown.” Most of the
neighborhood winds through Monroe Street, an interesting
collection of restaurants,
lounges and shops. Music and laughter fill the air and the
aroma of mouth-watering delicacies tempt you into one of
the many welcoming
eateries.
No matter where you visit in Greektown, you’ll
discover incredible food at dozens of quality restaurants – most
known for their reasonable prices.
The Greektown Merchants
Association is a group of business owners dedicated to enhancing
the Greektown experience. The
merchants
have been meeting several times a month since 1903 to plan
promotions and discuss ways to keep Greektown Detroit’s
most thriving entertainment center.
Each spring we present
a special party called the Glendi – all
are welcome! – and, in the summer, the Greektown Arts
Festival, which attracts hundreds of visitors to view art,
listen to live
music and check out our fine shops and restaurants.
In Greektown,
you’re always welcome. Opa!
